About receiving of the Prize for Excellence in Open Source, Greg shared:

I would like to greatly thank the European Open Source Academy for this award. I am very honored that the work I have done for Linux and Open Source has been recognized by my peers as helpful to the success of Linux. The European Union has, over the past years, recognized that Open Source software is what powers the world, and frees everyone from forced reliance on commercial offerings, allowing all governments, companies, and people, to control their own future. I am proud to be a small part of that effort and look forward to continue working together on this with everyone.

The prize

The Prize for Excellence in Open Source Software, aka ‘The European Open Source Prize’ is given to those in recognition of their  outstanding impact in open source software development, technical leadership, and sustained excellence over at least ten years.
